Cicatricial skin changes due to acne are difficult to treat. Their occurrence can be avoided by starting timely adequate therapy for the first signs of inflammation of the sebaceous glands. A complete cure for scars is not guaranteed by any method of treatment. The answer is to minimize the appearance of scarring, making them almost invisible against the background of the surrounding tissue. Post acne treatment is carried out according to prescription and under the supervision of a dermatologist, specialists in aesthetic cosmetology and surgery. Contraindications for many procedures are the active stage of acne, an acute inflammatory process and skin diseases. The treatment method select individually, depends on the type and severity of cicatricial changes.

Laser skin resurfacing:

In cicatricial manifestations post acne needs to use the laser correction. The laser beam, depending on the wavelength and the force of the effect, either removes the old scar layer-by-layer, or alters the scar structure. Laser treatment of the skin has the effect of peeling or laser polishing (resurfacing). Later the skin passes through all the healing stages. The advantage of this method is the accuracy and dosage of the laser beam on the affected area.

After the laser peeling procedure, irritation, redness and swelling of the skin appear which disappear within a month. With a large area of lesions skin , the procedure can be prolonged in time (up to one hour or more). Laser resurfacing is performed under the local anesthesia . For better healing of the skin in the next two weeks, usually prescribed ointment applications. In the warm season it is necessary to use sunscreen.

Dermabrasion is an apparatus technique of mechanical grinding, skin erasing. A special cutter or brushes of the device removes the surface layer of the skin, including scar tissue in the defect area. Epithelialization of the wound surface leads to a change in the relief of the skin and smoothing the scars. Dermabrasion is not indicated for all types of scars: for scars with a wide base, it can make the defect more visible. For patients with swarthy skin, dermabrasion often leads to hyperpigmentation. There is also risk of complications in the form of infection of the skin and the formation of keloid scars.
